Online writing tips from Jeff Bullas

May 22, 2014

Create an opening line that pops
Use facts that surprise
Insert insights that are not obvious
Make up a creative subtitle
Use rhythm in your writing
Break the rules
Use an opening paragraph that mentions a pain point
Develop a voice that is original
Include visuals in your articles
Use statistics that are mind blowing
Write a title that is not ordinary
Ask an unlikely question
Use stories
Practice, practice, practice

I feel like I’ve used many of these to become a successful writer but that lately I could use a reminder of some was to spruce up my column.
